Akaal Primary School, Derby

Axis undertook the mechanical and electrical services design for this new build independent primary school, for the Akaal Primary Trust through the ESFA Free School programme.

Akaal Primary School is Derby’s first Sikh school and provides 420 pupil places for children aged four to 11 to meet the educational needs for children in Normanton and surrounding areas.  It comprised 14 classrooms, SEN provision and library area.

The project was completed and opened its doors to pupils in September 2018.

The scheme required a good understanding of the end-users needs and featured engineered natural ventilation systems.
